Milking for cash... is it really worth it?

So the thing I really wanted to touch upon is gaming companies that really seem to not care much about the fans... but care lots about the money.
We see it happening all the time, we see it happening to probably the biggest titles out there like what hurts me to say, Halo. Halo has been milked to the max... Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo ODST, Halo Wars, Halo Reach, Halo Anniversary and Halo 4. With Halo 5 and 6 said to be on their way. Also obviously each of those have their own additional map packs and add-ons that can be purchased.
The point of this, is that by making so many add-ons and expansions for games that sometimes are the price of the game itself. Makes me think that they purposefully didn't add as much awesome stuff to the actual game, just so they can milk you as much as they can.
A lot of games have all the game add-ons previous to the original game release... so rather than including it in the original game. They'd rather leave it out for additional profit in the form of DLC ( downloadable content). Example of this is Halo 4 and it's Crimson Map Packs. In one of the interviews I have seen they openly admitted that they had the map packs ready before the game release. Reason for that is because they wanted you to purchase a season pass they didn't say this but this is the obvious reason.
Which brings us to the fact that they do get richer, which they were anyway... but they also loose the gamer's respect and the will to carry on supporting them. Let's take my own experience as an example.
Here we come to Skyrim. Skyrim is pretty good, so far it has like 3? expansions, one of them being inspired Minecraft ( Hearthfire ) where you adopt children and BUILD HOUSES... which is no big deal anyway, it's pretty cheap and alright I suppose. But there is Dragonborn... where you can RIDE DRAGONS! Which compared to the original game... Nothing is cooler than riding a dragon! Except a unicorn, but I killed my unicorn so a dragon must suffice. So yeah, the expansion ends up having better features, but also it costs as much as another game. Which sort of pushes me personally to actually go buy another game rather than keep buying expansions for only one game.
Which brings us to a conclusion... NO. It's not worth it, they should concentrate on making the game as great as possible in the first place! Alternatively like Minecraft for example... the updates are free, the only add-ons are skins for the xbox character. Which sort of makes you excited when they come out rather than a bit disappointed because they're way too expensive so you won't be able to get it and enjoy your game.

Additional note just so you don't think I hate games.
Not all game companies are greedy for money. From Soft, the game developers of Dark Souls for example did everything in their power to keep their fans happy rather than the masses. With Demon Souls which was a PlayStation exclusive until the fans requested it on other consoles such as xBox. To which the game developers replied that they would release the next souls title on xBox. They only have one expansion, and that's not because they wanted more money. It's because the fans requested it, they wanted to find out the rest of the story behind the game ( which is very complex ) rather than extra features.
