Animation - Research

After looking through lots of different types of animations some of which I talked about on here, I decided to look at more animations that are relevant to my own work. And so I looked at Lego animations, some of them were done by students and some of them were done by professionals.

This is one of the first animations I came across and it's also a first try at a 3D animating by a student. Overall it's a good piece but there are a few things that could be improved. For example the walking could be smoother, and he needs to have a more fluent body momentum, the arms don't appear to move naturally with the legs. Also I'm not sure about the lighting, there's too many lights and it creates lots of unnecessary shadows. Other than that I think it's a really nice piece, the Lego itself is really proportional and shiny, because it's plastic. Also the items in the background like rubber and pencil help to set the environment, it's obvious it's a desk.
